Command an Army Update 3 — New Units & Skill Tree

Command an Army Update 3 adds seven new units, the Skill Tree, a free battle pass, and an AFK server. Here's everything new plus working codes.

Command an Army Update 3 is finally live on Roblox, and it's the biggest content drop the medieval strategy game has seen so far. Seven new units, a full Skill Tree system, a free battle pass, and an AFK server all landed in the same patch. If you've been hoarding Gems or wondering whether to spend your Skill Crystals, this update changes almost everything about how you build your army.

Below you'll find a full breakdown of the Command an Army Update 3 patch, including every new unit, how the Skill Tree actually works, the new battle pass rewards, and the working codes that give you free Gems and Skill Crystals to spend on it all.

What's New in Command an Army Update 3?

Update 3 is a content-heavy patch rather than a balance-only tweak. According to player experience and community reports from early access to the update, the headline additions are:

  • Seven new units, including evolved forms of existing units and a brand-new faction with a Greek theme
  • The Skill Tree system, which lets you spend Skill Crystals to unlock passive bonuses per unit
  • A free battle pass with unit rewards, potions, and summons
  • An AFK server, so you can earn rewards while idle
  • Auto-sell and auto-delete filters in the summoning banner
  • A new battlefield map with elevated archer positions

The most important thing to understand before you touch any of it: Skill Tree progress is bound to the individual unit card, not your account. That single detail changes how you should spend every Skill Crystal you earn.

All Seven New Units in Update 3

The update added seven units across several factions. Here's what community testing has shown so far.

LaestrygonianHeavy melee / tankGiant unit, roughly 900 HP, ~120 damage per hit
MermidonDefense / anti-Spartan24 defense vs. Spartan's 20; Ascension 2 available at launch

Laestrygonian: The New Giant Unit

The Laestrygonian is the showpiece unit of Update 3. In player testing, a single giant hits for around 60–120 damage per swing with roughly 900 HP, and the attack appears to cleave — hitting everything within range rather than a single target.

In practice, a small group of Laestrygonians trampled through Sentinel defenders (normally a tanky defensive unit) without losing a single model. That's a strong signal that giants are the new frontline meta, at least until players figure out a counter.

Mermidon: The Anti-Spartan Defender

The Mermidon is a Greek-themed defensive unit that directly competes with the Spartan. Community stat comparisons put it at 24 defense versus the Spartan's 20, with a base DPS of 16. At launch it can already be obtained at Ascension 2 through the battle pass, with Ascension 3 expected in a future patch.

Because it's a featured unit in the current summon banner, you have a better-than-normal chance of pulling duplicates to ascend it. If you're chasing a specific new unit, this is the banner to spend on.

The Evolved Pikeman (Palangate)

The evolved Pikeman is arguably the most impactful addition for anyone who plays cavalry-heavy lobbies. Its long-shaft upgrade gives it extended reach that hits multiple enemies in a line, plus an anti-cavalry bonus and a stun on hit.

In testing, a circle formation of evolved Pikemen shredded cavalry before they could close the gap — and the reach was long enough to hit units well outside normal melee range. If you already invested in Pikemen, this evolution is close to mandatory.

How the Skill Tree Works (Read This Before Spending)

The Skill Tree is the most important system in Update 3, and also the easiest one to waste resources on.

Skill Crystals Are the Currency

Skill Crystals are a new resource used to unlock Skill Tree nodes. You earn them from:

  • Daily quests
  • Daily rewards
  • Ranked wins
  • Redeemable codes (several current codes award 2–5 Crystals each)
  • The battle pass

Skill Tree Nodes and Bonuses

Each unit has its own Skill Tree with nodes that grant passive bonuses. Community-tested examples include:

NodeEffect
RecklessFlat damage increase
DuelistParry chance
ClashAdditional combat bonus
GuardDefensive bonus
Last Stand+5% damage and attack
Warlord's WingsHits one nearby enemy
CleaveCleave attacks, +5% damage
BloodlustAttack speed buff, resets after 10s without attacking
Executioner+8% damage vs. enemies below 35% HP
Long ShaftExtended reach for spear units
Anti-CavalryBonus damage vs. mounted units
Steady / Set SpearsAnti-charge bonuses; stuns on hit

The Critical Warning: Skill Trees Are Per-Unit

Here's the part that catches people out. Skill Tree progress does not transfer between unit cards. If you unlock Reckless on one Mermidon card, a second Mermidon card starts with an empty tree. Unlocking nodes on a lower-ascension copy and then pulling a better version means you've spent Crystals you can't get back.

The practical rule from experienced players: do not spend Skill Crystals until you have the final ascension of the unit you actually plan to main. Node unlocks also get more expensive as you go — early nodes cost a few Crystals, but deeper nodes can cost five or more per unlock.

Update 3 Battle Pass: Is It Worth It?

Yes — mainly because it's free. Community reports indicate the Update 3 battle pass cannot be purchased with Robux in the usual way; the only paid element is a multiplier, which is optional. Everything else comes from completing quests.

Reward TypeHow You Get It
Ascended units (including Mermidon at Ascension 2)Battle pass progression
Summon potionsQuest completion
GemsQuest completion and daily rewards
Skill CrystalsDaily quests, ranked wins, codes

The pass leans heavily free-to-play, which is consistent with how the game has handled monetization so far. There's no obvious pay-to-win shortcut in the summon store — the "best value" bundles are Gem packs, not exclusive units.

Quality-of-Life Changes: Auto-Sell, AFK Server, and a New Map

Update 3 isn't just units and trees. Several smaller changes make the game significantly less tedious.

Auto-Sell and Auto-Delete Filters

The summoning banner now supports auto-sell and auto-delete rules by star rating. If you're sitting on 90,000+ Gems and don't want to manually clear hundreds of one- and two-star pulls, you can set the filter to automatically discard everything below your threshold. Most players set it to keep four-star and five-star units only.

AFK Server

A dedicated AFK server was added, letting you accumulate rewards while idle. Combined with the auto-sell filters, it makes long summoning sessions far less click-intensive.

New Battlefield Map

The new map includes elevated positions designed for archers, plus capture points that heal your units. In player testing, a single giant squad could capture and hold a point without casualties, healing back to full between fights. The map also revealed some AI pathing quirks — enemy bots occasionally get stuck near gates — so don't rely on the AI to finish games for you.

Working Command an Army Codes (October 2026)

These codes are active as of early October 2026 and are the fastest way to fund your Update 3 pulls. Codes are normally announced in the game's official Discord, but the lists below are maintained by outlets like Eurogamer's Command an Army codes page.

How to Redeem Codes

  1. Launch Command an Army in the Roblox client
  2. Complete the tutorial if you haven't already
  3. Click the Codes button on the right side of your screen
  4. Type or paste your code into the field
  5. Hit Claim and collect your rewards

Note that code availability shifts over time — some lists show RANKED, GUILD, PARRY, and RAPIER as expired while others still list them as active. Try them all; the worst case is an "invalid code" message.

Should You Spend Your Skill Crystals Now or Wait?

This is the question dividing the community right now.

Spend now if: you already have a max-ascension copy of a unit you use in every match — especially the evolved Pikeman, where Long Shaft and Anti-Cavalry are transformative against cavalry-heavy lobbies.

Wait if: your best units are still mid-ascension. Pulling a higher-ascension duplicate later means re-spending every Crystal from scratch on the new card. With 5–7 Crystals needed for deeper nodes and only a handful available per code, patience is genuinely the better play.

A reasonable compromise: bank your Crystals from codes and dailies, keep pulling on the Mermidon banner, and commit once you've locked in a final ascension. Update 3 isn't going anywhere, and neither are your Crystals.
